Target Audience
Airport staff operational at the manoeuvring area.
Objectives
The EASA Easy Access Rules for Aerodromes impose a new requirement: language proficiency Plain English ICAO Operational Level 4 for airport staff operational in the manoeuvring area.
This will require the employee concerned to demonstrate Plain English language proficiency, both at the operational level and in the use of specific subject terminology for
- the English language; and
- any other language or languages used at the airport for radio communication with the airport’s air traffic control service.
Course content
- Participants learn to use Plain English using familiar everyday expressions and short simple sentences, supplemented by ICAO phraseology, to progress to a more comprehensive vocabulary and provide more detail;
- Participants learn to follow and give instructions in Plain English, express their own opinions, and paraphrase and describe experiences, events, and expectations in their own words;
- Participants get a repetition/refresher of ICAO phraseology in well-known scenarios, building up to unprecedented and critical scenarios.
